Download Interdiction and Escalation for Free!

As part of the overarching PSN “Welcome Back” program, MAG’s “Interdiction” and “Escalation” DLC add-ons are now available for free to PlayStation Plus members! Featuring three exclusive maps, “Interdiction” tasks squads to lead armored convoys and claim three control points across each faction-neutral map. “Escalation” pits all three factions together in a single match across three unique maps, resulting in some of the wildest matches you’ll find anywhere. This free promotional period is good for the duration of the free PlayStation Plus trial and is available in North America only. We’ll provide additional information on similar promotions in other territories as they occur.

As a reminder, all MAG DLC is compatible with the free MAG Trial, so folks who have downloaded the trial but haven’t made up their minds about upgrading to the full version of MAG yet can still take advantage of this offer, so spread the word!

MAG Trial Now Available to All

We’re starting the week with great news and are proud to announce that the MAG trial, previously accessible only to PlayStation Plus subscribers, is now available to everyone in North America starting today following the usual PlayStation Store update.

The MAG trial gives you full access to all of MAG’s maps, weapons, character skills and modes (including the Guinness World record-setting 256-player “Domination”), with the only limit being a character growth cap at level 8. Despite this level cap, it should be noted that trial players will still continue to bank experience points that are immediately applied to their character upon purchasing the full version of MAG (downloadable or Blu-ray versions)!

For international readers, this offer is already available Japan and Korea; Europe will follow suit on April 6.

If you haven’t given MAG a try yet, now’s your best-ever chance to do so. if you’re a longtime MAG fan already, now is also a great time to get your friends to join the battle with you!

MAG Full Game Trial on December 21

We’re extremely excited to announce that starting tomorrow, December 21, MAG will be available in its entirety as a full game download on the PlayStation Store.

Priced identically to its boxed “Greatest Hits” counterpart, the downloadable version of MAG (4.7 GB) will run you a mere $29.99 (US) and come complete with all the bells and whistles found in our patches up to v2.10.

To celebrate its release, PlayStation Plus users can try MAG out for free with an exclusive full game trial! Members can play the game and any of its original modes at no charge for as long as their membership lasts, with their only limitation being a level 8 character cap.  Members will continue to earn experience as long as they play the game, allowing them to automatically receive credit for time played once they’ve purchased the full product.

Membership has its benefits, yes?

MAG 2.0 Coming Soon

Everyone here at Zipper Interactive is extremely proud to announce that our next downloadable MAG update, MAG 2.0, is not only our biggest and most important patch yet, but also one that’s less than a month away!

That’s right! All the feedback and suggestions you’ve made from countless hours spent playing our new MAG Beta program will pay off in the retail version of MAG in a very big way. We’re calling it “MAG 2.0″ for a reason and it’s because of the sheer number of fantastic new additions, including:

  • PlayStation Move support
  • An increased level cap that goes to level 70
  • A revamped Skill Tree that allows for the deepest character customization and specialization ever found in a first-person shooter
  • A brand-new in-game economy that lets you earn credits to spend on weapons and items from the also-new “Supply Depot”
  • Our useful “Clan Deploy” feature that enables clan leaders and officers to queue up to 128 of their fellow clan members into a single game
  • A “MAG News” page that brings players up to date on all the latest happenings the moment they log in
  • A multitude of updates that refine existing weapons, maps, and vehicles
  • Important bug fixes and other enhancements that streamline the overall experience

We’ll have specifics as to what else is in the MAG 2.0 patch as we near its release. Oh, and before we go, don’t forget to keep an eye out for additional news in the near future regarding our next DLC pack, which includes our upcoming Escalation game-type and nine all-new weapons.

We hope that you’re just as excited to get your hands on MAG 2.0 as we are to give it to you, and we’ll see you again real soon!

MAG “Moves,” Plus Our New Beta Program

If you’re a fan of our massive 256-player first-person shooter, MAG, then today’s news should be of great interest to you.

Truth be told, we have so many tremendous revisions coming to our “ever-changing global war” that it’s almost impossible to tell you about everything we have planned in a single article… but we have to begin somewhere, and we’re starting with PlayStation Move!

That’s right, later this Autumn MAG will offer full compatibility with the PlayStation Move! This added support means that users have another way to experience the most ambitious first-person shooter out there. Pinpoint accuracy and easy access to all of the game’s mechanics ensure that players of any type — be they hardened veterans or new recruits — can enjoy a shooting experience unlike any other.

But PlayStation Move support isn’t all we’re working on. Because our upcoming content is so important to the game and its future, we want your assistance to make sure we get it right! With that notion in mind we’re pleased to announce that, one week from today on August 24, we’re inviting existing MAG owners to take part in the all-new MAG Beta program!

Raven, SVER and Valor chill on Silverback Ridge.

What are you going to play and test, you ask? How about the oft-demanded “Clan Deploy” feature that allows clan leaders to choose any game type and queue up to 128 clan members for matches as a team? Sure, that’s a great start but we’re also bringing in a brand-new Skill tree system that improves how our character customization system works — complete with new skills and new abilities. What’s more is that we’re introducing an in-game economy system that allows users to earn “Credit Points” by completing objectives, finishing missions, and killing enemies. They can then spend those points to purchase new weapons and gear.

MAG Beta testers will also have the opportunity to try out our upcoming DLC game-type, “Escalation,” well before it becomes available. The most frenetic MAG game mode yet, Escalation offers three brand-new faction-neutral maps with never-before-seen environments that pit a total of 96 players from all three PMCs against each other simultaneously. For the first time ever, Raven, Valor and SVER will be on a single map going after the same objectives at the same time. It’s complete insanity and a whole lot of fun, and we can’t wait for you to try it out. As an added bonus, we’re including nine all-new weapons that add even more firepower to your already-sweet arsenal as well.

Radiant Barrens is hot!

That’s not all, of course, as we have plenty of other surprises in store for the new MAG Beta program that we haven’t mentioned yet — like the beta’s ability to support multiple character slots so that players can check out each PMC — but some things are best left for you to discover on your own.

To participate in the new MAG beta, all you have to do is download the client software from the PlayStation Store when it becomes available next week, insert your MAG disc into the PlayStation 3, sign-in to the beta client and… BOOM! You’re good to go. Reminder: You must have the MAG disc in your PS3 in order for the new beta client to work.

Amazingly, today’s announcement only scratches the surface of what’s planned for MAG’s future. That’s why we’re updating the Official MAG Blog constantly over the next few weeks with new and more detailed information of what you can look forward to. We’re even holding a special edition of our popular Zipline Podcast this Friday that will answer your questions about our future plans with special guest, Zipper Game Director Seth Luisi (if you have a question for the podcast, post it here)!

As always, the entire team at Zipper Interactive would like to thank you, our fans, for your feedback, loyalty and enthusiasm. Your continued support is what makes MAG what it is today, and it’s what inspires us to to make it better.
